Prevention of Perioperative Injuries

Requirements for Successful Completion

Each module is individually accredited. To receive CE credit, participants must first review the module materials. Following the completion of the module, the participant will be instructed to take a post test and achieve a minimum passing score of 70%. Lastly, the participant will be instructed to complete an Evaluation and will then be given access to their certificate of credit or completion.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for nurses and other extended healthcare providers who are at the forefront of assessing and caring for patients.

Activity Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participant should be able to:

  • Describe the incidence and consequences of surgical site injuries and pressure injuries.
  • Understand and implement the interventions that reduce the risk and incidence of surgical site infections throughout the perioperative period.
  • Recognize the risk factors and contributing factors associated with the development of surgical site infections and pressure injuries.
  • Describe the interventions related to patient positioning and transfer that decrease the risk of pressure injury development.
