Requirements for Successful Completion
Each module is individually accredited. To receive CE credit, participants must first review the module materials. Following the completion of the module, the participant will be instructed to take a post test and achieve a minimum passing score of 70%. Lastly, the participant will be instructed to complete an Evaluation and will then be given access to their certificate of credit or completion.
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in hospitals have brought significant economic burden, to the healthcare systems, with estimated costs of over $4.5 billion dollars annually. This module will help the learner have a better understanding of the factors, prevention, and policy of healthcare-associated infections.
This activity is designed for nurses and other extended healthcare providers who are at the forefront of assessing and caring for patients.
Upon completion of this activity, participant should be able to:
- Identify at least two CDC approved recommended instances when an indwelling catheter is warranted
- List three ways to properly maintain an indwelling Foley catheter
- Describe at least 1 way to assure catheter removal is assessed daily
- Identify timeline for appropriate Foley removal
This activity is designed to address the following core and team competencies: Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Employ Evidenced-based Practice, and Interprofessional Collaboration.
