Target Audience

This activity is designed for nurses and other extended healthcare providers who are at the forefront of assessing and caring for patients.

Activity Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participant should be able to:

  • Identify 3 categories of skin tears using the ISTAP classification system
  • Discuss 3 risk factors associated with patients developing skin tears
  • Describe 3 strategies for prevention of skin tears
  • Explain 3 treatment interventions for management of existing skin tears
