Venous Thromboembolism: Prevention in the Post-Acute Setting

Venous-Thromboembolism (VTE) has a far-reaching and global impact. Every year, 10 million people worldwide and 900,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with VTE. Over one-third of patients who are diagnosed with DVT will experience a PE. A highly lethal condition, PE is responsible for 100,000 to 300,000 deaths per year in the US, and one out of four people with PE will experience sudden death as their only symptom.
